Sébastien Rousselet and Nino Vella who form the duo Rouquine were among our favorites for the final of "The Artist", they were acclaimed by the jury which awarded them three 10/10, as by the public who have it. supported up to 75%.

The day after their victory, they give their impressions.

What goes through your mind when you find out that you are winning?

NINO VELLA.

A bit like in "Truman Show", I observed the confetti, the kind of fireworks that was behind us, all that, I was really a spectator of the situation but not at all an actor.

SÉBASTIEN ROUSSELET.

It was the same for me.

"The challenge for us was to do the songs well, rearrange them and interpret them well"

Sebastien rousselet

How long did it last?

NV

Until the show ends and we all hug.

There, I started to realize the trick a bit.

We went through so many emotions in the same evening… To be honest, the competitive aspect of the show, we kind of erased it from our brains from the start.

SR

The challenge for us was to do the songs well, to rearrange and orchestrate them and to interpret them well… We wanted to go to the end, but because leaving this kind of program is like leaving a train that continues ... A heartbreak.

We get attached to the artists, to the production team… We just wanted to go to the end of the journey.

Afterwards, winning is more.

However, the notion of competition in music is a little weird.

NV

We wanted to play as many songs as possible because it's still a chance to be able to perform them live like that in front of the viewers.

It is the public who made you win ...

SR

Obviously, it's nice because the audience likes our songs and maybe we like us.

But, the notion of being the winner doesn't mean much to us.

Did you imagine you could take it away?

SR

We no, but people told us, in our entourage and those who like us, follow us on the networks believed in it.

Us, it was really not in our head.

So not in your head that when you receive glowing comments, you get the impression that you are incredulous ...

NV

Friday was special, we had a hard time with the first song, for technical reasons, and we had no idea when the performance we had just performed.

So, we completely hallucinated the results.

It was more of a shock.

"What will do us a lot of good is to get back on the roads, to organize the tour ..."

Nino Vella

What does this victory bring you?

NV

It makes things happen.

What will do us a lot of good is to get back on the roads, to organize the tour, to go back to the studio to record the record, to come back to our life, because this is a bit of a parenthesis for us this TV show.

However, you hesitated to participate ...

SR

We were a little wary, the telecrochets, the competitions, the judgments of a jury… It didn't mean much to us.

And then, the TV is a big machine, bigger than us, we can be eaten.

We wondered what image we were going to use of us.

We felt about each other, but quite quickly we thought that Nagui is a bit like the chief music lover of TV and that he proved with "Taratata" that music was really important to him.

It gave us confidence.

We really took him as a somewhat junior “Taratata” who could offer us great exposure.

Since your participation, have you felt things move, accelerate around you?

NV

Very clearly, already in terms of figures, streaming, platforms, networks… We can also see it in the way people look at the project.

And the fact that the songs no longer belong to us, the public makes them their own.

Sometimes it goes beyond what we imagined when writing them.

SR

Seeing songs live their lives is moving.

When are the first concerts for?

SR

.

The next one is October 28 for the anniversary of France Bleu in Laval in Mayenne and it will be in the first part of Tryo.

We will also be on December 15 at the Café de la danse in Paris.
