With the start of the celebrations of the birthday of Christ, the messenger of love and peace, and amid a popular and religious festive atmosphere, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Elias Al-Ghayor in Al-Duwayla opened this evening, one of the largest nativity caves in Syria, covering an area of ​​400 square meters.

The cave, made of cardboard, wood and tree branches, embodies the holy city of Bethlehem, which witnessed the birth of Christ, and includes models representing the stages of Christmas.

SANA accompanied the opening of the cave, which was accompanied by a scout band playing and church ceremonies, and met the participants in the celebration, where Archimandrite Elias Habib, the zealous pastor of St. Elias Church of the Greek Orthodox, spoke about the lofty meanings of the glorious Christmas and the message of light, love and humanity preached by Christ so that peace and brotherhood prevail in the whole world.

Habib considered that the opening ceremony of the cave is a message to the whole world that Syria, the victorious over the enemies of humanity, was and will remain a land of love and peace, from which light came out to permeate the world, pointing out that the completion of the cave took about 50 days of work and consumed about eight thousand plates of paper and a large amount of wood and tree branches. And that the church establishes it for the seventeenth year.

A number of families visiting the cave noted the beautiful festive atmosphere experienced by all Syrian cities with the beginning of the glorious month of Christmas, expressing their happiness at the opening of the cave, which has become a ritual awaiting him and their families year after year, in addition to the performances of the Scouts troupe, church ceremonies and the Christmas tree, and the exchange of congratulations and blessings of Eid, wishing peace prevail. All over the country dear.
