The tourism business stopped and the animals were on the verge of starvation
Israelis who have traveled to Costa Rica are probably familiar with the animal rescue projects in the country.
One of these projects, "Animal Love" belongs to a group of 16 Israelis who have lived there for 15 years.
"We have a hotel, an adventure center and we are also a tour operator," says Assaf Schlossberg, one of the members of the group. "Our heart of life here is our animal rescue center. We have a total of 800 dogs and cats and more. A large number of ducks, geese, chickens, horses, sheep, goats and other animals. "
In total, the group cares for more than 1,000 animals.
The Corona period severely damaged the venture.
"The large expenses we have on maintaining the center - food, veterinary treatments, vaccines and a local staff that helps us, about $ 40,000 a month, we have over the years covered with a lot of effort and work around the clock through our tourism business," says Schlossberg, "but before From 7 months hikers almost immediately stopped coming due to the outbreak of the corona virus, which put us in business and personal dizziness and in fact a situation where right in the next few days we will be left without means and we do not know what will happen to our animals, which are already on the verge of starvation. Support from the government or local authorities. "

Schlossberg and his friends recognize the plight and know that the poor of your city precede.
Why should Israelis living in Tel Aviv, Haifa or Ashdod now contribute to a project in Costa Rica?
"We are aware of the economic difficulties that everyone is currently having and are continuously monitoring the situation of the corona in Israel, and yet we have decided to turn to anyone who can as our last resort before closing because of the safety of our animals at stake."
The group has launched a mass recruitment campaign.
"Help us survive," they ask.
