The left has a new dual leadership.

The Hessian state parliamentary group leader Janine Wissler and the Thuringian left-wing chairman Susanne Hennig-Wellsow will lead the party in the future.

Both were confirmed as new bosses at the digital party congress.

This is the first time that a large party in Germany has an all-female management team.

Wissler and Hennig-Wellsow replace the previous chairmen Katja Kipping and Bernd Riexinger.

The delegates vote online, the result must then be confirmed by postal vote.
