So-called drug checking has been tried out in Thuringia for a few weeks.
Today (10:00 a.m.) the Thuringian Minister of Health Heike Werner (Linke) and Addiction Aid in Thuringia (Sit) want to present the mobile laboratory and the first results of the missions.
Erfurt - During the "drug checking", illegally purchased substances (party drugs) are to be analyzed for contamination.
According to the Ministry of Health, the aim is to obtain the most accurate and comprehensive information possible about ingredients and substances that are potentially harmful to health.
This year, the state budget has earmarked 100,000 euros for the mobile drug check.
Critics see the tests as an incentive for further drug use, as they could suggest an alleged safety.
Similar tests have been offered in other countries for years.
