TURIN - The Phair, the international exhibition dedicated to photography running until Sunday under the vaults of Pierluigi Nervi, in pavilion 3 of Torino Esposizioni, has a feminine soul.

Complaint, testimony, research can be found in the numerous projects of artists, from different generations, which confirm the particularity of 'a non-fair fair, where each exhibitor presents a small exhibition', as Roberto Casiraghi, creator of the exhibition, said.

Mexican artist Eugenia Martinez makes photography dialogue with words: her work 'La moral es un arbol que da moras' - a vintage print framed by a superimposed glass - highlights how the patriarchal system and power are still very much present in all levels. On the other hand, Marinella Senatore's work in dialogue with painting, premieres 'Un corpo unica' at The Phair. He chooses the video Orlan in the work 'Saint Orland et les veillard' which refers to Susanna and the Elders by Tintoretto and to Rembrandt's Anatomy Lesson: engaged in art therapy in a retirement home, the artist involved the residents of the hospice in the making of the video.

Susanne Lacy's political commitment is found in the photographic series Chickens Coming Home to Roost, exploration of identity. In this work Lacy delves into the complicated relationship between the physical body and other life forms through the linguistic comparison of his legs with those of a chicken. Crumb Gallery in Florence, which by choice only exhibits photographs taken by women, hosts a series of black and white shots by Letizia Battaglia, one of the first Italian photojournalists, an internationally renowned artist, nicknamed 'the photographer of the mafia' (label that the artist does not love): with the works 'Le nonne' and 'Amiche' it tells the stages of a woman's life, from childhood to maturity. The Palermo artist Giulia Parlato, one of the youngest at the fair, exhibits his photograph Lizard from the Diachronicles series, in which he analyzes the historical use of photography as a document of truth, a photographic work suspended between reality and fiction. Do not miss the landscape photo proposed by Isabella Gherardi and the still life and research photography by Giulia Marchi in Lalangue # 7, made with the use of real hand-made soaps by the artist.
