District - On Monday it's that time again: The pleasure days in Ostallgäu and Kaufbeuren start. From September 20th to October 3rd there will again be special, local dishes in numerous inns. Because the products come from farmers and artisan processors from the region and thus come to the inns over short distances. Some of the farms and businesses offer a farm tour or guided tour on the enjoyment days and show how the high-quality food is made.

The networking of a total of 55 restaurateurs, farmers and artisan processors supports the use of more food from the region in local gastronomy. The long-term goal is to increase the purchase of regional food in the catering trade and thus to strengthen regional economic cycles. “Through the network of pleasure days, the actors get to know each other and enter into a mutual exchange. In addition, the campaign focuses on the question of where our food comes from - whether in the inn or in the fridge at home, ”says District Administrator Maria Rita Zinnecker

The pleasure days are initiated and coordinated by the Ostallgäu district in cooperation with the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forests Kaufbeuren, the Ostallgäu and Günztal eco-model regions, Bergaufland Ostallgäu and the Ostallgäu tourism association. The pleasure days took place for the first time in 2019 and thus gave the impetus for long-term cooperation between farmers, processors and restaurateurs in the region. Which succeeded with so many participants. “Thanks to the enjoyment days, we have intensified our cooperation with our long-term suppliers. With the Allgäu oil mill, a new regional supplier has also moved into our kitchen, ”says Thomas Petrich, Landgasthof Hubertus, Apfeltrang.

“We already work a lot with food from the region.

Nevertheless, we were surprised by the large number of products that are available in Ostallgäu.

On this year's enjoyment days, for example, we have tempeh from the tempehmanufaktur in Günzach.

Tempeh is made from soy, sweet lupins or black beans and is perfect for spicing up vegetarian dishes, ”says Eva-Maria Rummel, Gifthütte Kaufbeuren.

As part of the pleasure days, I offer a small presentation of mobile slaughter without live transport, fear and stress.

If there are several participants, there is also the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes.

Right at the beginning of the enjoyment days, on Monday, September 20, for example, you can take a look at the Allgäu farm slaughter in Baisweil at 3 p.m.

On September 25th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the curious can visit the farm at the Schreyer organic farm, Riedhof 1a in Stötten a.

A. and on the same day at 11 a.m. there will be a brewery tour through the Bären Bier organic brewery in Nesselwang (registration by telephone on 08361/294).
