Hazak passed away at the age of 85. He will be laid to rest this afternoon at Kibbutz Afikim.

Strong wrote fourteen books of poetry.

Some of his songs were even composed

The poet and educator Yechiel (Chilik) Hazak passed away at the age of 85. He will be laid to rest this afternoon at Kibbutz Afikim.

Hazak was born in Kibbutz Afikim.

He was a youth instructor and teacher at the kibbutz and later served as a literature teacher and educator at Kelai High School in Givatayim and Urban D High School in Tel Aviv.

He served as an aliyah emissary in England and an emissary in Mexico City on behalf of the Jewish Agency.

He published his first poems in the magazine "Keshet".

His first book, Basalt Stones, was published in 1961. Hezak wrote fourteen books of poetry.

Some of his songs were even composed.

His younger brother, Barry Hazak, who was also a poet, was killed in the Battle of Serfaum during the Yom Kippur War.

His brother's song "Lord of the Worlds" was composed by Berry Sakharof.

Among the prizes and grants he has won: the ACUM Prize, the Prime Minister Levy Eshkol Prize, a grant from the Tel Aviv Foundation named after Yehoshua Rabinovich and the Mifal HaPais grant.

Yechiel Hazak was married to the poet Avivit Hazak.
