He is in particular suspected of having communicated information to members of the criminal gang enabling them to escape a shot.

A policeman from Ajaccio was indicted on Monday in Marseille.

He is suspected of having communicated information allowing members of the Corsican criminal gang of “Petit Bar” to escape arrest.

Yves Robert, police officer of the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) of Ajaccio, was indicted by an investigating judge of the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (JIRS) of Marseille for "passive corruption", "revelation of" information on an investigation for felony or misdemeanor punishable by 10 years' imprisonment to a person likely to be involved in it "," misuse of data purposes "and" violation of professional secrecy ", told AFP the JIRS ( specialized interregional jurisdiction) of Marseille and his lawyer, Me Vinier-Orsetti.

He was also placed under the status of assisted witness for "criminal association", specified the two sources, indicating that he had been placed under judicial control with "prohibition to go to Corsica, contact bans and l 'ban on performing the duties of a police officer'.

Missed net in September

In custody since last Thursday as revealed by the weekly Le Point, the police officer is suspected of having communicated information to Jean-Laurent Susini, brother-in-law of Jacques Santoni, considered by the authorities to be the head of the criminal gang of the "Petit Bar".

This information would have enabled three important members of this band, André Bacchiolelli, Mickaël Ettori and Pascal Porri, to escape a police strike on September 28 in Ajaccio, a source close to the case told AFP, confirming information from the daily Le Monde and the weekly l'Obs.

Following this failed net, the judicial police in Corsica had been removed in favor of the gendarmerie from investigations concerning the “Petit Bar” gang.

"Mr. Robert never had the information on the police operation targeting the Petit Bar and even if he had had them, he would not have disclosed them", told AFP Me Antoine Vinier-Orsetti, lawyer Yves Robert, assuring that "no listening or no witness can say the opposite".

Yves Robert and Jean-Laurent Susini maintained a "friendly relationship" with calls and daily coffee, said Me Vinier-Orsetti.

In mid-February, Yves Robert had already been placed in police custody for a few hours “following the publication of the article in Le Monde” presenting him as the mole of the “Petit Bar”, then regretted Me Antoine Vinier-Orsetti.

He had been released without prosecution.
