The press service of L announced that the army will receive a new ship for marine research.
Russia Today website quoted a statement issued by the service as saying: “The new Anatoly Knyazev naval research vessel developed within the framework of government project 19920 has passed all required acceptance tests, and today it will be handed over to the Russian Navy in an official ceremony that will take place in St. Petersburg.”
The statement added: On the 22nd of this month, the approval order for the ship’s acceptance and registration certificate was signed at the Leningrad Naval Base of the Russian Army’s Baltic Fleet, and the approval order was signed by the commander of the Russian Navy, Nikolai Yevminov.
Russia began working on developing this ship in July 2021, while sea tests began on it last October.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the ships developed within the framework of Project 19920 will contribute to ensuring the safety of maritime navigation, will help guide ships and submarines, and will provide services for the maintenance and repair of ships and submarines, in addition to being equipped with the latest technologies for marine research operations.
Each of these ships is more than 36 meters long and about 8 meters wide and has the capacity to transport goods and personnel for distances of up to 1,000 miles, and to work on missions of up to 10 days after being supplied with supplies and fuel.
