The Russian nuclear-powered submarine K-329 Belgorod is moving in the Arctic seas and there is a suspicion that its mission is to

test the Poseidon torpedo missile

, capable of carrying nuclear warheads ten thousand km away.

This is what a NATO report, cited by Repubblica, states, according to which the Atlantic Alliance is on alert and monitors every possible launch of torpedoes from the submarine.

184 meters long and 15 meters wide, the Belgorod can navigate underwater at about sixty kilometers per hour and with virtually unlimited autonomy.

It is believed that it can stay 120 days without returning to the surface.

In recent days it has been mentioned in the analyzes on the possible sabotage of Nord Stream, but there is no evidence in this regard.

The newspaper adds that NATO's suspicion, transmitted to allied commands, is that the submarine is about to test Poseidon in the Kara Sea area.

Code-named "Status-6": a 24 meter long torpedo capable of carrying an atomic warhead probably of two megaton.

The torpedo missile was designed to explode near the coast causing a 'radioactive tsunami'.
