The Education Bureau announced today that the first "School Recommendation Direct Admission Scheme" will be implemented in the 2022/23 school year. Students who have talents but the relevant talents may not be fully assessed through the HKDSE will have the opportunity to be considered for direct admission by local universities.
Eight aided universities have designated about 140 bachelor's courses to participate in the program, and the admission of students is not restricted by the HKDSE scores.
Among them, CUHK has 57 courses participating in the program, which is the most among all colleges, including the Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance, which is known as the "sacred subject".

The nomination period for the first program is from October 6th to December 8th this year. Students who intend to participate must be recommended by their secondary schools.
Each local secondary school can recommend two students with special talents and interests in a particular subject or field to participate in the project.
Each recommended student can apply for a participating designated UGC-funded bachelor's degree program.
A notice of "Direct Admission" will be issued to successful applicants before the DSE is released next year
Participating universities will arrange interviews for all recommended students, and in June 2022, before the announcement of the HKDSE results, they will issue "direct admission" notices to successful applicants.

According to its admission criteria, the English test score of the diploma must be three; the CUHK Quantitative Finance Course, which is popular with top students, requires applicants for the first academic year of Form 5 and Form 6. The top 10% of all-level rankings, Chinese, English, and mathematics are expected to score 5 or 5*, and they have won awards in international competitions.
The Education Bureau reminds that students who are recommended to participate in the Direct Admission Scheme must apply for courses through the Joint University Admissions Program through the usual channels and take the diploma exam as scheduled to avoid restricting their opportunities for further studies.
