The Hörnle mountain run took place this year - despite Corona.

Numerous athletes from the Weilheim-Schongau district were there.

And they delivered a remarkable performance.

Bad Kohlgrub - Peter Grünebach showed a sense of humor in the finish area.

The 72-year-old Pollinger completed the Hörnle mountain run in a remarkable time of 58:35 minutes.

But that was five minutes slower than the last time he took part.

"It gets steeper every time - someone must have manipulated the forest road," said the endurance athlete.

Grünebach was nevertheless able to look forward to first place in the M70 class;

he was 4:05 minutes faster than Ludwig Höfler.

For all of the almost 120 finishers, the following was true: Getting there was quite an achievement.

Because the way from the Bad Kohlgruber village church over seven kilometers (640 meters in altitude) up to the hut at the mountain station of the chairlift is quite demanding.

The organizers from the Bad Kohlgrub ski club did not let the coronavirus stop them and adapted the format to the applicable regulations.

The athletes were sent off every 30 seconds.

The women and men from the district impressed with various top results at the 39th edition.

Hörnle mountain run: individual start with a gap between the participants

Sabine Nagel from the “Volllast Tri-Team Schongau” shone as the second best woman with a time of 44:25 minutes.

The triathlete won the W30 class with ease.

Overall, only Kristina Schollerer (27) from PTSV Rosenheim was faster than Nagel, who crossed the finish line after 43:47 minutes.

The oldest participant and only W60 starter was Marianne Grünebach (66), Peter Grünebach's wife.

She made the distance in 1:03:40 hours.

The pollinger was satisfied with that, especially since the operated knee withstood the strain.

For the men, various top runners from the region dueled for victory.

Johannes Hillebrand (LG Stadtwerke München) achieved the top time of the day with 34:10 minutes.

The 41-year-old was even one second faster than Michael Laur at his gala appearance in 2017. Daniel Götz (SV Bergdorf-Höhn) came in second overall with an impressive 34:22 minutes.

Götz had won the "Raffeisen Oberland Challenge" several times in the past few years.

The third, Lukas Gasser (34:57), also stayed under 35 minutes.

In the M45 class, Bernhard Höldrich (SC Ingenried) showed an extremely strong performance: with 39:18 minutes he finished second.

Josef Streicher (TSV Peißenberg / 40: 09) also took silver among the athletes between 49 and 53 years of age.

He ended up just ahead of Christian Scholz from Peitinger (SVO Germaringen / 40:28).

Rupert Haseidl (ESV Bad Bayersoien / 42: 49) in the M40 and Wolfgang Rührer (TSV Penzberg / 48: 26) in the M55 were also happy to win a bronze place.

Two runners from the district narrowly missed the podium in fourth: Sebastian Sanktjohanser (DAV Steingaden / 44: 34) in the M30 and Harald Loserth (SC Böbing / 46: 50) in the M40.

The award ceremony took place outdoors in fine late summer weather to ensure the necessary distance.
