The Supreme Committee for the Reform of the Public Economic Sector discussed during its meeting today, headed by Engineer Hussein Arnous, Prime Minister, the draft law on the management of public banks and its executive instructions, which aims to develop the work of public banks, organize the work of the banking sector, create a competitive work environment and enhance the role of banks in the construction and development process in a way that supports the economy the National.
The meeting focused on mechanisms enabling public banks to play an economic role in harmony with government development policies, directing loans to various development sectors, and providing banks with qualified cadres, qualifying and training them to enable them to fulfill the requirements of the next phase.
The meeting discussed the mechanism of financial control over the banking sector, the system of employees and contracts related to banks, the necessity of harmonizing the law of public banks ’management with the laws of public institutions and joint-stock companies, and the mechanism for establishing public bodies in public banks and supervising them by the Monetary and Credit Council and the Central Bank of Syria, in addition to the executive instructions for the draft law. .
The Supreme Committee for Economic Public Sector Reform is working on a package of financial, regulatory and legal issues related to this sector with the aim of bringing about positive change in the mechanism of its work, restoring its role and harnessing its capabilities in improving performance indicators and providing appropriate services and managing it in a way that enhances its role in supporting the national economy.
