The head of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections, Judge Counselor Jihad Murad, announced that the number of those who submitted their candidacy applications for administrative units, governorate councils, cities, towns and municipalities in all governorates for the local administration elections scheduled for September 18, 2022 amounted to 68,178 candidates who will compete for 19,086 seats.

Murad said in a statement to SANA that the nomination committees will finish deciding on the applications of the candidates and announcing the names of those whose applications have been accepted on 8-18 at the latest, after which the candidate has the right to object to the decision of the nomination committees before the Judicial Subcommittee within 3 days of the day following the announcement of the names of It was decided to accept their candidacy, and the Judicial Subcommittee decided on the objections within 3 days of submitting the application to it with a final decision.

Murad added that it is expected that August 21 will be the last date for the candidates to receive the final notification of the acceptance of their candidacy applications. The Judicial Subcommittee, provided that it is at least 7 days before the date set for the date of the elections.
