The Amur leopard, born almost two months ago in the Leipzig Zoo, has been baptized with the name Manju.

The zoo announced on Wednesday that the zoo keepers had unanimously decided on the meaningful name "Die Süße".

The young cat was the first Amur leopard to be born in Europe this year, according to the zoo with reference to the European conservation breeding program.

Leipzig - Manju is currently leaving her litter box again and again and romping around with her eight-year-old mother Mia.

It will not be long before zoo guests can see the animals together in the outdoor area.

According to the zoo, only between 100 and 250 Amur Pards currently live in the wild.

This means that the animals are not only the rarest big cats, but also the rarest mammals in the world.
