The scene of agricultural lands in Al-Fakhoura in Lattakia countryside is now different from what it was a month ago, with the campaign of the Syrian Trust for Special Development continuing to plow the agricultural lands affected by the fires.

The campaign, which enters its fourth week, during which the plowing of 24,000 dunums of fire-affected lands was completed, was accompanied by a positive interaction from the people, who at the same time invested their lands by planting seasonal vegetables that helped them to be self-sufficient and improve their livelihoods.

Director of Manarat Al-Fakhoura in the Municipality, Natalie Farah, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the campaign was carried out in full cooperation and coordination with the heads of agricultural associations, village mayors, municipality coordinators, the Directorate of Agriculture and its cadres, and Lattakia Governorate.

Farah indicated that 96 agricultural tractors and 31 cultivators participated in the implementation of the campaign, where they were used according to the type and nature of the land and how to reach it, pointing out that the campaign came on three priorities, which included in the first phase lands that can be cultivated with seasonal vegetables and in the second lands planted with citrus and olives, while the third phase included Neglected lands to clean them of weeds and help and encourage their owners to cultivate them and keep the danger of fires away from them.

The Director of Agriculture in Lattakia, Eng. Basem Doba, explained that the Al-Fakhoura district was one of the areas most affected by fire damage in the year 2020, and accordingly the Syrian Trust for Development prepared integrated studies for its development in various fields, so that the campaign of plowing agricultural lands for free will be its first operational results.

Doba pointed out that the campaign includes agricultural lands in 25 villages belonging to the sub-district, where the cultivaable areas were estimated at 42,000 dunums, of which 24,000 dunums have been implemented so far, and the campaign will be completed soon.

Governor of Lattakia, Engineer Amer Ismail Hilal, and during a tour of the reality of work, confirmed the continuation of the governorate to provide all requirements and follow up on the completion of the campaign and the accompanying basic requirements that help farmers to work again, cultivate their lands and improve their livelihoods.
