Damascus-SANA

At the conclusion of the third scientific conference for Syrian expatriate researchers, the participants recommended the creation of a Ministry of Energy to supervise all energy carriers in Syria and focus on supporting renewable energies, including bioenergy, with linking them to environmental and economic studies, and accelerating the creation of research and development units in production and service agencies.

The participants called for encouraging local researchers to communicate with production and service agencies, to use biotechnology to treat the waste resulting from the war, to work on introducing university curricula on bioinformatics and its applications on immunological and biological sciences in general, and to work on amending some laws that impede the use of genetic engineering, in addition to reactivating a committee Biosafety.

The participants also drew attention to the need to adopt appropriate adaptation projects to face climate changes in the Syrian coast and to adopt a network of different national reserves with its physical and biological structure, in order to achieve the protection of a wide range of marine living species, and linking this network with the network of reserves in the Mediterranean.

In the nanotechnology axis, the importance of the national policy for nanotechnology prepared by the National Committee for Nanotechnology formed in the Supreme Authority for Scientific Research and the expansion of research in the manufacture of nano-fertilizers towards studying its negative effects on its users and on land and agricultural products and its economic feasibility was emphasized.

In the biotechnology axis, the participants called for the necessity of advising practicing physicians to monitor the levels of glucagon in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, because the focus on monitoring insulin levels alone is not sufficient.

In the axis of technology and knowledge management, the participants called for the formation of a “knowledge management” committee in the Supreme Authority for Scientific Research and to focus on education and scientific research across disciplines, and to strengthen this by decisions of the Higher Education Council.

The work of the third scientific conference for Syrian expatriate researchers was launched yesterday “remotely” at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus under the title “Towards the knowledge economy.. the role of Syrian researchers in the homeland and the expatriate”, in cooperation and partnership between the Supreme Commission for Scientific Research, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Arab School for Science and Technology The Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, the Network of Syrian Scientists, Technicians, Innovators and Innovators in Expatriate “Nostia” and the Planning and International Cooperation Authority

The conference was attended by local and expatriate Syrian researchers with the aim of establishing effective research and applied partnerships between Syrian researchers at home and abroad.
