The United States recorded more than 2,000 new deaths from the Coronavirus last night, being the largest daily increase in the number of deaths in the country since the start of the pandemic.
Reuters quoted health authorities as saying that yesterday's deaths in Corona amounted to 2157, with a death rate every 40 seconds, while daily injuries reached 170 thousand, and the number of people who were hospitalized for treatment of Covid 19 yesterday exceeded 87 thousand, the highest rate ever.
US President-elect Joe Biden has pledged that fighting the pandemic will be his top priority when he takes office on January 20.
