US, India and Singapore tighten entry and exit restrictions following the spread of the variant • Tests conducted in Nigeria showed that the omicron spread in the country as early as last month

The World Health Organization issued a statement today (Wednesday) calling on unvaccinated citizens not to travel or reach other needs to countries where cases of coronavirus omicron variants have been detected, while many countries are taking various steps to prevent the variant from erupting in their territory.

The statement argued that sweeping entry bans would not help stop the variant over time.

Meanwhile, the United States returned the requirement for a negative check a day before the flight for citizens of all countries reaching its borders.

In addition, Washington is considering adding another checkup five days after arriving in the country.

Japan has decided to extend the ban on foreigners entering the country, after a second case of the Omicron variant was discovered in the country.

Tokyo has also decided to ban visa holders who were in the country from entering its territory from 10 African countries, a step that has not yet been taken by the Japanese government.

Singapore has also announced that it will require a negative corona check in order to enter its territory, and at the country's airports are already preparing to tell speed checks to the millions of passengers arriving in the country city.

Nigeria today recorded the first official case of the Omicron variant, but laboratory tests from October showed that the variant spread in the country as early as a month ago, which worries experts in the country and raises fears of a drastic rise in morbidity.
