There is no place for camping when it comes to treating sexual assault Israel today

2021-10-11T21:03:20.123Z

Sexual assault is not an issue of the left, it is an issue of all of us, girls, girls, boys and women sexually abused from all corners of the population

Two events took place one after the other and greatly challenged the feminist discourse in Israel: the interview of Colette Avital in the Haaretz newspaper, in which she said that she was sexually harassed, and the things that Minister Elazar Stern said about shredding anonymous female soldiers' complaints.

Since then, Minister Stern has claimed that he did not mean anonymous complaints about sexual assault, and yet these events give us an opportunity to face a real challenge in Israeli society: the ability of each camp to stand up to the values they each believe in, or the only true loyalty and commitment to the camp.

Our society is unbearably divided, and every issue becomes a camp: sexual assault, of the left, preservation of the environment - of the left, concern for the guards - of the right, development of the country - right.

And when everything becomes campy, too many people pay the price.

Because if everyone stands to the right of their camp more than to the right of the goal, then who is left to help the issue itself?

Who will work to prevent sexual assault?

Precisely the recent events give us an opportunity for correction.

Because sexual assault is not an issue of the left, it is an issue of all of us, girls, girls, boys and women being sexually abused from all tribes and from all corners of the population.

It must become everyone's issue.

And if right now, instead of chirping about why the left is silent, or not responding enough, the right will simply say, "This is ours, we will work for the benefit of victims of sexual assault. "And if the government votes against, we will embarrass her. We will work for the benefit of every woman and girl who has been harmed, because it must not be a matter of one camp and not of another camp, it is a matter related to every woman, and mother to everyone's wife and daughter."

It is more fun to fight camp against camp in the media and on social networks, but the price will be paid by those who need us with them.

I hope it will be a moment of correction, a moment when we will be able to lower the height of the camping flames, and remember that we have a social responsibility to those who need us.

And who will let us know when to put camping aside for the sake of victims of sexual assault, for the sake of the future of our children's world, for the sake of all that is important to us.

These are our test moments as a company, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
