In an announcement that ran on ultra-Orthodox websites, a method is advertised that takes advantage of the 90-minute benefit on public transportation and through which it is possible to travel distances that exceed the maximum range for local travel while paying the cheap rate of NIS 5.5.

As part of the Ministry of Transportation's "Equal Travel" reform, travel rates are divided according to distance, where the minimum rate is for urban travel and is NIS 5.5, and this is limited to a range of 15 km. Above that is travel between 15 and 40 km and there is a cost The trip is NIS 12, between 40 and 120 km the rate is NIS 16 per trip and so on up to the maximum rate of NIS 68.5 for a trip of more than 225 km.

At the same time, there is an additional benefit that allows travel on urban lines, that is, at the low rate, with no limit within 90 minutes of the first validation.

As long as you don't exceed the 90 minutes, you can continue to travel even beyond the basic range (Photo: Reuven Castro)

The message explains how it is possible to travel from Modi'in Ilit to Jerusalem, a trip that should cost NIS 12, at the lower rate of NIS 5.5, while taking advantage of the 90-minute time window.

The method is to get on the bus line while validating a trip for a distance of less than 15 km and pay NIS 5.5, upon arrival at the station, you must revalidate the trip, or alternatively get off the bus and get on immediately while revalidating it. In this way, the only payment is on that first short-term trip, when in practice the distance traveled will be unlimited - as long as it is done within the same 90-minute time period.

By the way, the same urban trip can be used in a similar way even when the continuation of the trip is made in another city. For example, payment for a trip Urban in Petah Tikva, traveling by train and then continuing a new urban trip without paying for another trip as long as 90 minutes have not passed since the first trip. Which was not possible before the reform, so the distance to use the same trip was limited to 15 km.

The Ministry of Transportation approved the option in question, as long as the passenger gets off the bus on every trip.
