This mission, called "Alpha", will last six months during which Thomas Pesquet is expected to take command of the ISS for about a month, a first for a Frenchman.

If a probable spacewalk awaits him, it will be mainly for Thomas Pesquet to conduct scientific experiments in zero gravity inside the station.

This is the second space mission for the 43-year-old astronaut.

The unexpected info

In Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais), fans of fries are invited not to share them with gulls, as our correspondent tells us. The same goes for pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or other foods often eaten on the docks. "It is forbidden to feed these birds, under penalty of a fine of 68 euros", warns Franck Miellot, communication manager of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The campaign against the nesting of the herring gull is in full swing there, as every year between March and mid-May.
