[London 7th Reuters]-Thousands of activists who appealed to strengthen global warming countermeasures occupied roads all over the world, including London, Berlin and Paris, on the 7th and urged quick action against climate change.
In London, the environmental protection group “Extinction Rebellion” blocked the bridges and roads in the center and disrupted traffic. The London Metropolitan Police Department arrested 276 people. There was a traffic jam in Berlin due to a protest demonstration.
Similar demonstrations were held in France, Spain, New Zealand, Australia and Austria.
The protest campaign “Rebellion against Extinction” hosted a demonstration in April, and traffic in central London was confused for 11 days.
The organization plans peaceful protests in 60 cities around the world over the next two weeks. It has announced that it will appeal to the governments of each country to eliminate carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2025.
