The Federal Administrative Court has now received three lawsuits against the changed building law for the planned Baltic Sea tunnel.

The plaintiffs have six weeks to substantiate the lawsuit, said a court spokeswoman on Monday.

In addition to the nature conservation association Nabu and the alliance against a fixed Fehmarnbelt crossing, two companies have also filed a lawsuit.

Leipzig - The shipping company Scandlines, which offers ferry connections between Germany and Denmark, does not do so by its own account.

The background to this is the compensation plans for protected reefs that are being destroyed by construction work.

According to the Ministry of Transport in Kiel, 7.67 hectares of reefs are actually being destroyed.

The much larger parts have been preserved and are only temporarily affected by anchor throwing or sedimentation.

The construction company Femern A / S has to build additional reef structures with a size of 17.5 hectares.

This would benefit marine mammals, fish and water birds, which would use them as living, spawning and feeding space.

In November 2020, the Federal Administrative Court dismissed lawsuits against the billion-dollar project.

However, the court ordered the planners to repair the reefs discovered in the route area after the plan approval decision had been issued.

The 18 kilometer long road and rail tunnel is expected to connect Fehmarn with the Danish island of Lolland by 2029.
