A change of scenery without having to travel far: that’s what many people want in times of Corona and climate change.
While for most it will probably be a short trip to the sea or the mountains, rock stars may think a little bigger.
Singer Tina Turner, 82, and her husband Erwin Bach, for example, bought a 100-year-old country estate on Lake Zurich in Stäfa.
Bach confirmed this to the Handelszeitung.
"Because of the pandemic and its consequences, we - like many other Swiss people - unfortunately do not travel," the newspaper quoted the 65-year-old as saying.
»With this property we have found a new weekend retreat in the immediate vicinity.« Turner and Bach have been living for many years in Küsnacht, around 20 kilometers to the north, in a rented house, also directly on Lake Zurich.
The newspaper estimates the value of the new luxury property at 70 million francs (around 67 million euros).
According to the "Handelszeitung", the couple will receive a 24,000 square meter property with ten historic buildings, a swimming pool and a jetty.
The two soon become almost neighbors of another star: tennis player Roger Federer and his wife Mirka bought a property a few kilometers south of Stäfa in Kempraten, where extensive construction is currently underway.
