The patient was a 70-year-old man (Case No. 11611) living in Block 3, Ai Fai House, Yau Oi Estate, Tuen Mun. He became ill on March 31.

The Department of Health stated that the confirmed case was a retired person who passed away at home on April 8 and confirmed the diagnosis after taking samples from the public mortuary in Fushan on April 12.

2 imported cases from Pakistan with N501Y variant virus

Of the 4 imported cases, 2 of them arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan, a 26-year-old woman (case number: 11610) and a 20-year-old woman (case number: 11612). The two took flight EK384 on April 1. When they arrived in Hong Kong on the 11th and the 11th, they were asymptomatic and carried the N501Y variant virus.

Another 56-year-old man (case number: 11609) arrived in Hong Kong from Egypt by flight QR818 on April 12; a 2-year-old boy (case number: 11613) took flight UK6395 on April 4th. India arrives in Hong Kong.
