The French are in the spotlight this Thursday in Tokyo with three medals on the clock.
After the silver medals won by Laura Tarantola and Claire Bové in rowing and Madeleine Malonga in the under 78 kg in judo, the tricolor foilists, Ysaora Thibus, Pauline Ranvier, Anita Blaze and Astrid Guyart, also won the silver during the team competition.
In the final, the band of Ysaora Thibus was not able to repeat its feat of the half against Italy, where it had gone up a gap of eleven touches, and was beaten by Russia (45-34) .
The French fencing team won a third medal in the Tokyo Games, after Romain Cannone's gold on the épée and Manon Brunet's bronze on the saber.
The French clan won here its eleventh medal.
France had not won a medal at the Games in women's foil for 41 years and the individual double (Pascale Trinquet) - by team in Moscow in 1980.
