Nations League: schedule and results
Giroud has responded again
Absent during the last rally in June, Olivier Giroud inevitably has something to play for in these two matches in September, the last two which precede the next World Cup.
And the French striker was convincing to say the least.
A passer for Mbappé, who went to score the first goal, the AC Milan center-forward scored the second on a superb whim.
Served by a cross from Griezmann, he was in the right timing to deceive Pentz and score his 49th goal for the France team, two units behind record holder Thierry Henry.
He even became the oldest striker of the Blues, at almost 36 years old.
Also interesting in its discounts and deviations, it once again shows its usefulness in this French collective.

Mbappé, a nice goal but also failures
He will have had the merit of unlocking this meeting, which is moreover a very nice goal.
Served by Giroud, he started from afar to start a great individual action.
After obliterating two Austrian players, he unleashed a strike that surprised goalkeeper Pentz.
A goal that saves a meeting where he will have spoiled a lot.
Between his many failures in the face of the opposing goal (26th, 27th, 90th + 1) and distant attempts largely out of scope (62nd, 89th), he was an extension of his more difficult pass through club.
Less precise in his relays, in his controls, Mbappé is still far from his best form.
But he still manages to score and enters the Top 10 of the best scorers in the France team.
The "new" have successfully completed their baptism
Benoit Badiashile and Youssouf Fofana celebrated their first selection for the France team.
And all while holding.
But it is clear that the two Monegasques did not have trembling legs.
Badiashile was clean in his defensive interventions and participated a lot in the game by being the player to touch the most balls.
While being precise in his reminders.
As well as Fofana, active in tackling, raking balls alongside his former club partner, Tchouaméni, once again irreproachable in the midfield.
Players no doubt to see again in Denmark on Sunday.
Varane, back in shape
He is discreet but he is probably back in form at the best time.
As he regained confidence in his Manchester United club, Raphaël Varane allowed the French defense to breathe serenity.
The captain of an evening recovered the most balloons on the French side and was, as often, master in the air.
Good news in a sector particularly affected by injuries.
FLOPS
The Blues infirmary is filling up
The list is growing to fill the infirmary of the Blues.
After the many withdrawals recorded in recent days and weeks (Lucas and Théo Hernandez, Konaté, Kimpembe, Coman, Kanté, Pogba, Kamara, Rabiot and Benzema), Didier Deschamps saw two other of his players injured.
Koundé, at the heart of the first period, and Maignan, at the break, had to give up their place due to thigh pain for the first and calf pain for the second.
A long black series for the French.
Injuries that prevent Deschamps from being able to refine the automation behind and in the middle.
But there is no doubt that he prefers his elements to be unavailable today than in two months.
A very disappointing Austria
Austria only fired 4 times when the French attempted 22 attempts.
Overwhelmed long and wide, the partners of David Alaba never knew how to endanger Maignan, then Areola.
Too passive, they defended too low and never existed at the Stade de France.
They recover this last place in Group 1 of this League A of the League of Nations and it is rather deserved in view of this meeting.
