Sainz premiere

First pole position on Saturday, first victory in F1 on Sunday, Carlos Sainz will keep excellent memories of this 2022 edition at Silverstone.

The Spaniard therefore waited 150 races before achieving his first success.

The Iberian had several lives in this race, especially after his first failed start.

Then, he was overall advantaged by Ferrari in terms of strategy compared to Charles Leclerc, leader at the time of the safety car.

The Spaniard changed his tires and not the Monegasque, despite being better placed in the championship, which gave him a considerable advantage at the end of the race.

He easily got the better of his teammate on the restart and became the second Spaniard to win an F1 Grand Prix after Fernando Alonso.

Perez's comeback

The Mexican left feathers in the second standing start and in particular a front wing.

Forced into an early stop to change the play, Sergio Perez was last after five laps.

The Red Bull driver came back up and took advantage of the safety car, provoked by Ocon, to make a second stop and put on tenders for a crazy end of the race.

The Mexican then took the best of Hamilton and then Leclerc, with crazy passes of arms, to offer himself a very good second place at the finish.

He thus saves the weekend of Red Bull since Max Verstappen had a complicated Sunday

Schumacher, the first points

He had been chasing after it for a while.

Mick Schumacher finally gets his first points in F1.

Eighth at Silverstone, in the exhausts of Max Verstappen, the young German signed his first top 10 and offered four points to Haas.

Tenth, Kevin Magnussen brings an additional unit and validates a very good Sunday for the American team.

Hamilton goes on

Third in Canada, Lewis Hamilton did it again at Silverstone.

The British driver even surely believed in victory in front of his home crowd.

In the lead for the first time this season after Ferrari stops, the seven-time world champion was well placed and was only five seconds behind the lead after stopping twenty laps from goal.

But the safety car reshuffled the cards and LH44 then simply fought to keep its place on the podium.

FLOPS

Black Sunday for Gasly and Ocon

On the grid, the two Frenchmen were out of the points.

After ten laps, Pierre Gasly was seventh and Esteban Ocon was ninth.

Everything was in place for the Blues.

Unfortunately, the second part of the race was catastrophic for the Habs.

Gasly was harpooned by his teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

Which sent the Alpha Tauri out of the points and Gasly even retired later in the race.

Immediately imitated by Esteban Ocon.

The latter had just climbed eighth place from Max Verstappen before falling victim to the reliability of his Alpine on lap 39. No points for the French at Silverstone and a Sunday to forget.

Verstappen leaves feathers

The leader of the world championship had a complicated Sunday.

The Dutchman had however ideally started by overtaking Carlos Sainz at the first corner of the first start but the red flag restarted everything and the Batavian lost the benefit of this good start.

Returned to second place for the second start, the world champion did not find the fault this time but took advantage of Sainz's error on Round 10 to take the lead.

The beginning of the end for Verstappen.

Two laps later, he had a problem with his car (engine bonnet then floor).

Forced to make three pit stops and drive a

'broken'

car in his words, the championship leader finished a modest seventh and conceded championship points over Perez and Leclerc.

Ricciardo reported missing

While Lando Norris validated another good weekend with a sixth place, Daniel Ricciardo looked gray.

Once again very far, the Australian never existed this weekend at Silverstone.

Released in Q2 on Saturday, thirteenth on Sunday, the McLaren driver did not take advantage of the many racing events to come back up.

The weekends follow one another and look alike for Ricciardo who only has three Top 10s after ten races.
