This is Gerson's benchmark match in the Olympian jersey. Much criticized since his signing at OM for just over 20 million euros, the Brazilian midfielder has certainly delivered his best match in the Olympian tunic. Often jostled from post to post since his debut at OM, Gerson has regained a position in the axis just behind Dimitri Payet which seems to suit him perfectly. In addition to his superb sequence on goal, he was very precise in his transmissions (86% of successful passes) and shone by his ability to project himself forward to compensate for the stalls of Payet. The international Auriverde is holding his benchmark match under the Marseille jersey.
Amine Harit: the cupboard then the light
For many weeks, the Moroccan attacking midfielder has to be content with ends of the match with OM. Put away by Jorge Sampaoli, Amine Harit came out of his box in front of his training club. On the right side, he did wonders in the first period by increasing the number of races forward. Nantes defenders experienced the worst difficulties to stop him as evidenced by the 4 faults suffered by the former Schalke 04. Very fine technically with 93% of successful passes, he lost a few balls trying to provoke. But he brought the madness and liveliness that OM sometimes lacked in the offensive phases.
Alban Lafont kept the canaries alive
If OM did not rush to attack for 90 minutes, their success could have been much greater without an excellent Alban Lafont in Nantes goals.
In the first half, he perfectly repels an attempt by Gerson in the 21st minute.
Just before the break, he prevents Payet from doubling the bet by folding quickly on the shot from Reunion.
During the second act, he allows his team to still believe in it by winning his face-to-face with Guendouzi (85th).
Without being called upon continuously, he was able to be decisive in keeping his team afloat.
A successful performance, logically tarnished by this goal of Gerson on which it was nevertheless difficult to intervene.
FLOPS
Nicolas Pallois: 32 minutes and then leaves It is
difficult not to be designated a donkey cap for the game when you get a second yellow card after only half an hour of play. First warned at the end of the game. 14th minute for a foul on Amine Harit, the former Bordeaux player repeats less than 20 minutes later by mowing the same Harit in the central circle when there was no immediate danger.
A lack of control detrimental for his team, forced to evolve in numerical inferiority for more than an hour.
If he sometimes relieved his defense by recovering a few balls, he also suffered a lot from the liveliness of Amine Harit during the few minutes spent on the meadow.
Ludovic Blas did not shine
A ball percussion at the start of the first period, and then not much. Nantes' top scorer this season with 7 goals did not have his usual influence on Wednesday like his 16 balls lost. Usually very clean, it experienced more waste than usual and never really managed to get between the lines to disrupt the Marseille defense. In his defense, difficult to shine as an offensive player when the team is playing outnumbered. However, the former Guingampais was also beaten in the impact, losing 6 of the 10 duels he played. Match without for the number 10 Nantes.
Wylan Cyprien, without relief
Under the tunics of Lens and Nice, Wylan Cyprien had succeeded in making a name for himself in Ligue 1 in front of one of the sure values of our championship.
But his unsuccessful transfer to Parma last season appears to have held back the 26-year-old's progress considerably.
With 11 balls returned to the opponent and 4 duels lost out of 6, he did not weigh on the meeting.
Beaten in the impact by Marseille circles, he struggles to relaunch his career in the Nantes jersey.
