The owner of the animal is on the run. His attack dog, an American Staffordshire terrier, should have been muzzled and kept on a leash.

A 38-year-old man was transported in absolute urgency Sunday evening to the Purpan hospital in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), according to the Dépêche du Midi.

He had been seriously bitten on the arm by a dog, an American Staffordshire terrier listed among the first category attack dogs which must always be muzzled and kept on a leash on public roads, according to France Bleu Toulouse.

Her 25-year-old sister was also hospitalized after a bite on her arm.

The dog bit them in a dead end in the district of La Faourette, west of the Occitan capital.

Shocked, a 60-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl, who witnessed the scene, were also taken care of by the emergency services.

The microchipped animal has been identified: it belongs to the brother of the two bitten people.

The police tried to stop him at his home but he took the key to the fields, fleeing through the window.

During the investigation, the dog will remain in the pound.

His behavior will be analyzed by a veterinarian who must ensure as quickly as possible that he is not a carrier of rabies.
