Sam Bennett takes his second stage victory at the Vuelta. The favorites experienced a moment of shock in a mass crash, but can continue the tour.

Irish cycling pro Sam Bennett won the 14th stage of the Tour of Spain. The 28-year-old German team Bora-hansgrohe won on Saturday after 188 kilometers from San Vicente de la Barquera to Oviedo in the sprint ahead of Argentinian Maximiliano Richeze and Belgian Tosh Van der Sande.

For Bennett it is already the 13th win of the season. The top sprinter had already won the third day of the Vuelta.

Behind the leaders, a kilometer before the finish, there was a mass crash in which some riders fell to the ground. Among them were world champion Alejandro Valverde, who is still in second place 2:25 minutes behind overall leader Primoz Roglic, and third overall Tadej Pogacar. Both drivers suffered only minor injuries.

On Sunday at the Vuelta again the favorites for the overall victory are in demand. The 15th stage over 154.4 kilometers from Tineo to the final ascent Santuario del Acebo is waiting with a total of four climbs of the first category.
