Nine months after he was kicked out of major social media for his Jan.6 harangue after which his supporters stormed the Capitol, former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday the formation of his own media company with a platform for social networks.
Trump launched the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG)
and its application for social networks 'TRUTH Social' (which in Spanish means Social Truth).
He said his goal is to create
a rival for big tech companies that shut him off their platforms by
denying him the megaphone that was critical to his national rise.
“We live in a world where the Taliban have a large Twitter presence, but their favorite American president has been silenced.
This is unacceptable, "he said in a statement.

The new company announced that it had been created through a merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. and indicated that it seeks to become a publicly traded company.
Since being banned from Twitter and Facebook, Trump has considered creating his own social media site.
He gave up on an earlier attempt to blog within his own website after reviews were abysmal and attracted very few visits.
The former president has also been indefinitely suspended from Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch.
Trump's social media app will debut next month in a preview or beta version for some users and will be released to the general public in the first half of 2022.

Miller added that his company had not been able to reach an agreement with Trump's new media company, although he did not clarify whether it was referring to a failed merger or some other arrangement.
