Although the qualifying stages have been played for several weeks, the 2022/23 season in the European factories will officially and festively kick off this evening (Wednesday) with the European Supercup, when the European champion Real Madrid meets Eintracht Frankfurt, the holder of the Europa League, in Helsinki.
Four years after their last visit to the Supercup, the Blancos are looking to make amends in the Finnish capital after losing to then Europa League holders and city rivals Atletico Madrid last time out.
For Carlo Ancelotti's team, it will be the first official game of the season, just days before the start of the Spanish league, and the coach has fielded his classic lineup, with Karim Benzema and Vinicius up front.
Antonio Rudiger and Orlean Tschoumani are waiting on the bench for their debuts.
The Germans arrive after being defeated 6:1 by Bayern Munich in the opening match of the Bundesliga and without Filip Kostic, who is due to leave for Juventus, with Christopher Lenz taking his place.
