County - The corona pandemic has completely paralyzed the sport. Since the introduction of exit restrictions and other state-ordered measures to curb the pandemic over five weeks ago, the club's sports operations have been on hold - for the approximately 110 sports clubs in the district and their almost 45,000 members, as well as for over 50 shooting clubs (around 3,500 members) Catastrophe.

Starnberg Mercury has started a survey among the clubs: What does the closure mean for them? What reactions are there from the members? How long do the finances last and what help do they want?

At the start of the new series “Sports Clubs in the Corona Crisis”, Peter Kramer, Chairman of TSV Gilching-Argelsried, the largest club in the district, answers our questions.

What effects does the temporary cessation of sports have on your club?

We can currently offer practically no sports offer to our more than 3200 members, some departments offer online training or assistance with sports at home. Playing in football, handball, table tennis, tennis, unicycle and other competitive sports is suspended. The association and the departments lack the planned income from these events.

Are there already more and more members terminating their membership, or is it the opposite: statements by members that they will definitely stay in times of crisis and beyond?

Unfortunately, we have received more and more dismissals from members in relation to the measures taken by the federal government. Above all, we would like to thank our many, many members who give us courage and even send us donations during this time.

What (financial) perspective do you see if a ban on club sport is extended over several weeks? Until when do you see your club able to act?

This year we see a loss in our much-needed revenue from games, events and championships of several tens of thousands of euros. We currently do not see any incapacity to act this year, but we expect strong losses in the coming year.

What help do you expect from sports organizations, professional associations or politicians?

We expect financial support or relief. Politicians have repeatedly spoken of relief from voluntary work or tax relief for volunteers, which would now be an extremely good time to do so. The increased contributions from the associations and professional associations are currently not of much help to the individual associations.

Are there any initiatives of your club in Corona times (shopping offers for older people, etc.)?

Some departments have offered their hired and volunteer trainers via various Facebook groups as voluntary helpers for particularly needy fellow citizens.
