A Turkish soldier was killed Wednesday evening April 14 by rocket fire against a military base in Ankara in northern Iraq, the Turkish defense ministry said.
"One of our heroic brothers in arms died in the attack"
on the Turkish base in Bachiqa, in the province of Mosul, declared the ministry of Defense, specifying that three projectiles had been fired, only one having hits its target.
An Iraqi child was also injured in a nearby village by one of the rockets.

The Turkish army has deployed a drone to secure the area, added the ministry, which has not appointed officials. Shortly before the announcement of this attack, a few tens of kilometers away, a rocket fired by a drone hit the airport of Erbil, the main city of Iraqi Kurdistan. It was not immediately clear whether these two attacks were linked.
