Two new super speed cameras should help!

The police want to slow down the illegal car races in Munich - the two locations are in Milbertshofen.

Munich - Now the PS protzer in Milbertshofen are to be slowed down.

Specifically, it's about the speeding miles on Ingolstädter Strasse and Frankfurter Ring.

There have often been dangerous car races there in the past (we reported).

It is now certain that there will soon be fixed speed cameras there.

"If you have to brake in between during a car race, the fun is over quickly," hopes Fredy Hummel-Haslauer (SPD, 71), head of the local district committee.

However, it is still unclear when exactly the combination speed cameras will be in use.

“It can't be long now.

Parts of the speed cameras can already be seen, ”explains Denny Richter (41), police captain from the Milbertshofen inspection.

Milbertshofen: Two new super speed cameras at intersections

Delivery problems due to Corona would have delayed the construction of the new super speed cameras.

There is already a column at the intersection of Frankfurter Ring and Ungererstraße, but it is not yet equipped with measuring technology.

And on Ingolstädter Strasse at the corner of Neuherbergstrasse, cables protrude from a concrete foundation.

State-of-the-art, digital combination systems are to be built there.

They can take photos in several directions, measure the speed and monitor red light violations.

“The speed cameras are definitely needed there.

Ingolstädter Straße, for example, is two-lane, straight, and there is hardly any residential development next to it.

Unfortunately, that tempts many to drive too fast, ”says Richter.

An example: in September, a 25-year-old from the Starnberg district sped down the street at 143 kilometers per hour.

Only 50 km / h are allowed in this area.

"The new speed cameras will definitely have an effect," asserts Hummel-Haslauer.

So far there is only one fixed speed camera in Milbertshofen: on Lerchenauer, at the corner of Moosacher Straße.

Munich: Lightning systems also in the tunnels of the Mittlerer Ring and at the MC-Graw-Graben

According to the police, there are also fixed speed cameras in the three tunnels of the Mittlerer Ring in the city area - the Richard Strauss, Petuel and Luise Kiesselbach tunnels. There are also stationary speed monitoring systems on Landshuter Allee. This route is also popular with racers. Digital combined systems are also at the intersection of Wasserburger Landstrasse and Bajuwarenstrasse, at Dachauer, at the corner of Max-Born-Strasse and at the intersection of Oskar-von-Miller-Ring and Briennerstrasse. At the Mc-Graw-Graben in Giesing, the city also operates a permanent flashing system that keeps an eye on all traces.

"By monitoring the permitted speed, one of the main causes of serious traffic accidents is counteracted," explains a police spokeswoman.

The Bavarian Ministry of the Interior sometimes stipulates the following criteria for setting up a monitoring system: It must be a location with a high risk of accidents and particularly high traffic.

“These criteria apply to the two new locations,” explains the police spokeswoman.

The police are constantly checking whether new speed cameras are required in Munich.
