Hundreds of Palestinians in the cities of Tulkarm and Al-Bireh in the West Bank today demanded, during two solidarity stands, the international community and the human rights and humanitarian institutions headed by the Red Cross to urgently intervene and put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities and obligate them to implement international law and release the captive Maher Al-Akhras who has been on hunger strike for 86 days and save his life.

According to Wafa Agency, the participants in the stand in front of the Red Cross office in Tulkarm confirmed that the mute prisoner is waging a battle of empty stomachs in the face of the most powerful occupier in the world, amid international silence, stressing the need to move to pressure all humanitarian institutions to release him and all prisoners in the occupation prisons.

During the stand in Al-Bireh, the participants stressed that the mute prisoner, in his continuous hunger strike, is recording a new epic in confronting the terror of the occupation until he gains freedom despite his critical health condition, stressing that the prisoners in the occupation prisons are fighting a struggle battle in support of him in light of the arbitrary and brutal practices against them.

In a flagrant violation of international human rights law, the occupation authorities refuse to release the mute prisoner, despite warnings from human rights organizations and Palestinian organizations about the deterioration of his severe health and their request by the international community to intervene to release him.
