When questioned in the Senate, the Minister of Solidarity and Health was satisfied and reassuring about the number of caregivers suspended or

They would have changed their minds.

As of October 6, according to the Directorate General of Health, nearly 130,000 health professionals had not yet been vaccinated.

However, the number of suspensions was estimated a few days ago at only 15,000 by the Ministry of Health.

Why such a gap?

Olivier Véran solved the mystery on Tuesday by indicating that "two thirds of suspended caregivers returned to work once vaccinated".

“The suspension and resignation rate is extremely low,” added the Minister.

As a reminder, on September 15, at the time of the vaccination obligation, 262,000 working in health and medico-social establishments and 26,400 liberal had not yet received any dose of vaccine and therefore risked suspension.

“From the first lifts I have, two-thirds of suspended caregivers returned to work once vaccinated.

This is good ", announced the minister during a hearing in the Senate on the bill" health vigilance ".

"We are therefore at a vaccination coverage rate for employees of health and medico-social establishments which is extremely high and a suspension and resignation rate which is extremely low", he continued, without advancing an overall number for staff still suspended.

Several thousand suspended

The Minister Delegate for Autonomy, Brigitte Bourguignon, had specified on October 20 to the National Assembly that on that date, 7,930 caregivers were suspended in France.

Already obliged since September 15 to justify at least one injection, employees of hospitals, clinics and retirement homes, as well as liberal caregivers, home helpers, firefighters and ambulance attendants, i.e. 2.7 million workers, have since November 15, to certify a "complete plan", under penalty of suspension of their employment contract, without remuneration.

In Martinique, on the other hand, the resistance of some of the caregivers to the vaccination obligation tends the climate both with their vaccinated colleagues and with the authorities, leading the Minister of Health Olivier Véran to announce on Tuesday the sending of a "Mediation" in the island.

The prefect of Martinique, Stanislas Cazelles, also lodged a complaint Monday in Fort-de-France "following threats and messages of incitement to hatred aimed in particular at caregivers," he said in a statement.

The schedule recently presented by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) on the implementation of the vaccination obligation and the health pass had provided that each caregiver had to have received his first dose before Monday, under penalty of being suspended.
