Uefa threat: This is what a German EM squad looks like without a Super League player

2021-04-20T15:39:02.323Z

Watch out, fiction! If no players from Super League clubs are actually allowed to appear at the EM, Joachim Löw could end his term with a few punchlines. A cadre proposal that is not meant to be taken seriously.

Joachim Löw, national coach:

The Super League may also have an impact on EM.

UEFA officials have threatened that players from the clubs involved will not be allowed to take part in the tournament.

This would make the work of national coach Joachim Löw extremely difficult.

He couldn't take İlkay Gündoğan and Toni Kroos with him.

If Bayern, BVB and Paris now switch to the Super League club despite announcements to the contrary, Löw would have to improvise on the last few meters of his term in office.

On the other hand, it would be an opportunity to say thank you to old companions, to confirm or dispel eternal prejudices about yourself, and to make up for a historical fault on the part of the DFB.

Kevin Trapp, goalkeeper:

You know it: Hardly do everyone who is better than you drop out, they all look at you and expect something.

No Manuel Neuer, no Marc-André ter Stegen, no Bernd Leno (well) - whoosh, Trapp is already number one in the German goal!

It can go that fast.

Oliver Baumann, goalkeeper:

Finally hanging around in Hoffenheim is paying off.

As an okay goalkeeper in the Bundesliga, who moves through the seasons without causing any problems, Baumann is the ideal number two.

The national coach is likely to have seen him more often in Sinsheim than, for example, Ter Stegen in Barcelona.

Already fits.

Sven Ulreich, goalkeeper:

If you could be number two in Munich, you can also give number three to the national team.

The fact that Ulreich now only plays in the second division shouldn't really matter to Löw.

He once took Lukas Podolski to a major tournament as a second division player.

It is impossible that Ulreich causes similar turbulence as the last HSV goalkeeper in a tournament line-up (Uli Stein, 1986, Suppenkasper-Gate).

Welcome on board, Sven Ulreich!

Robin Gosens, defense:

No Chelsea pros!

No Ilkay Gündogan from City, no Toni Kross from Real, no Marc-André ter Stegen from FC Barcelona - Löw, who has worn cosmopolitanism as a second skin in his 17 years at the DFB, suddenly has to go back to the German province for players search.

Degrading.

He will not miss the chance to drive up with Gosen's Italian flair (Bergamo! Only 50 minutes by train from Milan!).

Philipp Max, defense:

As one of his last official acts, Löw will try to compensate for a historical fault on the part of the DFB.

Philip's father Martin shot everything short and sweet in the Bundesliga for years, in the national team he was only allowed to play eight minutes (!) Even in the darkest hours of Vogts, Ribbeck and Völler times.

Löw has to correct that and he will do it with the nomination of the Eindhoven professional.

Christian Günter, defense:

There is always a position that the national coach occupies with far too many players.

On the other hand, is it even possible to have enough left-backs in the squad?

Since Löw, like every normal person, cannot tell Lucas Höler and Nicolas Höfler apart, despite the countless visits to SC Freiburg, he simply takes Günter with him.

Marcel Halstenberg, defense:

a fourth left-back.

For safety.

This EM can be long.

So not for the German selection, but as a matter of principle.

Lukas Klostermann, defense:

Boring, but true: Klostermann can play in the back right, back left (!) And in central defense.

If RB does not jump on the Super League train in the last few meters, Klostermann is there in every constellation.

Ridle Baku, defense:

Karl-Heinz Riedle, who gave his first name, became world champion in 1990, and even as a talisman, Ridle Baku is a must for the German EM squad.

You can also represent that in terms of sport - a win-win situation!

Jonathan Tah, defense:

Tah is always there anyway, plays with every now and then, sits on the bench a lot, knows everyone, already has a suitable DFB tracksuit.

Safe nomination.

12/24

Matthias Ginter, defense:

The only one in the line-up who would have legitimate hope of a regular place even without the lack of Super League players.

The 2014 world champion (which is easy to forget) would be the predestined national team captain and leader.

Maybe he will fill these roles.

It could be?!

Robin Koch, Defense:

Wait a minute, aren't they all banned from the Premier League?

No, only the "Big Six", Leeds professional cook (currently qualifying for the Champions League as tenth in the table after deduction of the Super League clubs) should participate.

For the simple reason of having two Robins in the squad.

Sometimes it's the little things.

Sebastian Rudy, midfield:

HE is back.

Rudy stands like no other professional for Löw's “I don't care” philosophy when it comes to executive nominations.

Someone of his Swabian co-trainers sings the candidates and when he's through, Löw says: "And we have to call Sebastian too." And then someone calls Sebastian too.

Hoffenheim's best, there is.

Suat Serdar, midfielder:

Löw was never really interested in what happens in everyday club life.

Anyone who is above things does not want to deal with such frills as "tables" any more.

Only consequently, if the national coach packs a player from the Tasmania Berlin revenant Schalke 04 in his last squad.

Florian Neuhaus, midfield:

Last time before moving to a Super League club.

A nice farewell present for the 24-year-old, who will end his DFB career after the tournament (too good).

Mesut Özil, midfield:

Just a thought.

Maximilian Arnold, midfield:

One person always knew that Maximilian Arnold belonged to the national team: Maximilian Arnold.

Also important for the Wolfsburg location, the DFB sponsor VW and the youth.

There is someone who has made it to the top after more than 50 international junior matches for the DFB.

"Never stop dreaming!" Loew tells the offspring.

Very important symbol and worth more than 1000 video messages.

Maximilian Eggestein, midfield:

Bremen was always unfavorable for Löw.

Too far to the north, you didn't pass it by accident, annoying location.

As a peace offer, something surprising Eggestein is allowed to join.

After all, he was already in the squad two years ago, the phone number and the size of the clothes were still correct - why not?

Mario Götze, midfield

: Career planning, so important.

Had Götze stayed at BVB, the EM would have taken place without him.

But no sooner do you do gymnastics in Eindhoven than you are in demand again, as if it were the 2014 World Cup. Mario “Show the world that you are better than all the players who are not allowed to be here because they are so good that they are “Götze IS BACK.

Amin Younes, midfield:

A climber of the season who is one of the few professionals who can get past the opponent in a one-on-one duel?

That sounds like a clear "I don't need it" for the national coach.

Greetings from Leroy Sané 2018.

But the national coach also leaves this unfortunate chapter of his tenure behind and of course takes Younes with him.

Kevin Volland, attack:

»Volland?

Who was that again? ”Even if Löw has memory gaps in the squad discussion, he is convinced by the sporting record of the ex-Leverkusen player at AS Monaco.

15 goals this season, that sounds good!

And with professionals from Italy, England, Turkey, the Netherlands and France, the international five-leaf (!) Lucky clover is complete.

Footballer and superstition, the best duo since the brothers Schnarch and Schleich.

23/24

Lukas Podolski, attack:

Every squad needs experience and a good mood.

Löw relies on the only still active player from his debut appearance as national coach in autumn 2006. Since Podolski's current club Antalyaspor is not intended for the founding line-up of the Super League, the 130-time national player can add one or two stakes.

National team, you best!

24/24

Max Kruse, Attack:

The great human gesture at the end of a long journey.

For years Löw did without the services of the offensive genius, they go the last way together.

Cappuccino and Shisha - the new, modern Germany.

What a symbol that Löw leaves us there.
