These are not general elections but this poll is the first in the United Kingdom since the coronavirus crisis - it should have taken place a year ago - and the post-Brexit era.
If all eyes are on Scotland, this
"super Thursday"
presents other issues, thus serving as a test for Boris Johnson as well as for his Labor rival Keir Starmer.
In addition to the renewal of the Scottish and Welsh parliaments, these local elections - quite complicated for England - will concern 143 municipal councils or some 5,000 seats, 13 directly elected mayors, as well as 39 police officers and a partial legislature.
The main interest is that they will give an idea of the balance of power in the
“red wall”
of the north of England, these historically Labor lands but where the conservatives were conquerors during the legislative elections of December 2019.
