(CNN) -

Three protesters were fired upon by unknown individuals this Wednesday in Pereira, capital of the Colombian department of Risaralda.

Colonel Aníbal Villamizar Serrano, commander of the city's Metropolitan Police, “flatly” rejected the events that occurred on a viaduct.

He noted that authorities are working to clarify the incident "in a timely manner" and called for those who have videos or any other probative material to make them available to the authorities.

The Secretary of Government of Pereira, Álvaro Arias Vélez, demanded that the authorities clarify in "the shortest possible time" the facts that he described as "hit men."

In addition, it communicated that up to 50 million Colombian pesos (about US $ 13,100) are offered to anyone who can provide evidence that leads to the clarification of the attack.

By means of a tweet, the mayor of the city, Carlos Maya, stated that "they will not rest" until they find those responsible.

Through a statement published this Thursday, the Technological University of Pereira, the study home of Lucas Villa, one of the injured protesters, expressed their outrage at the attack and asked the authorities to clarify the circumstances and find those responsible for the facts.

The manager of the San Jorge university hospital, Juan Carlos Restrepo, told RCN Radio on Thursday that the young man was admitted with eight gunshot wounds in different parts of the body, including the head, and in "very poor general condition."

Restrepo explained that Villa has been in an intensive care unit since Wednesday and his neurological condition is "very serious and has a poor prognosis."
