The URA announced today (24th) the launch of two redevelopment projects in Sham Shui Po District. The sites selected are "Kem Shan Lane/Fuk Wah Street" and "Cheong Wah Street/Cheung Sha Wan Road" in Cheung Sha Wan. The two projects involve a total of 720 residential buildings. The number of units is expected to increase to 1,838 units after reconstruction, and it is estimated that they will be completed one after another as early as 2028.
Among them, the Jianshanli project has a total of 90 street numbers of buildings. The buildings are generally in disrepair. There are also many subdivided housing units. It is estimated that 2,100 households and 120 ground shops will be affected.
The URA also pointed out that the plot ratio of the district is only 9%. The high acquisition and development costs involved in the redevelopment of Kenshin Lane alone will make the project less than adequate. Therefore, it decided to adopt a planning-led urban renewal strategy to implement the whole district.
