For months a woman in the United States hid the bodies of her nephew and niece in the trunk of her car until they happened to be checked at a traffic stop.

The woman was arrested, said Baltimore police.

The 33-year-old is accused of child abuse resulting in death.

The boy was only five years old, his sister seven years old.

According to a report in the Baltimore Sun, police officers made the gruesome discovery when they stopped the woman because of excessive speed and checked the car.

She had stowed the body of her niece in a suitcase and deposited it in the trunk in May of last year.

A year later, she put the boy's corpse, which was packed in a plastic sack, next to it.

"You will see me on the news"

The two children were said to have been entrusted to the woman by her sister in 2019.

The 33-year-old admitted during interrogation that she hit her niece so that she fell on the floor and hit her head.

She did not provide any information about the boy's death.

When the police stopped the woman, she reportedly said, "You'll see me on the news, I'm going to make a big entrance."
