(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, JUL 24 - One of the most ferocious serial killers in American history, Rodney James Alcala, died of natural causes while he was waiting to be executed in the San Quentin penitentiary, north of San Francisco.
Alcala, known as the 'Dating Game Killer' for killing the boys and girls he dated, was 77 and by the 1970s allegedly killed at least 130 people in the four corners of the United States. Although the 2010 penitentiary sentence refers only to five murders committed in California between 1977 and 1979, including that of a 12-year-old girl. In 2013, he was then given another 25 years in prison for admitting he was guilty of two murders in New York. Alcala had been ill for some time and was currently being hospitalized in San Joaquin Valley hospital. (HANDLE).
