(ANSA) - PERUGIA, 04 DEC - The young man from Perugia, Roberto Malaspina, 27, was injured in New York shortly after Davide Giri was stabbed to death.
The Corriere dell'Umbria reports it today.
Malaspina, and not Malastina as initially reported by American media, was in the US city to study.
However, his condition is not serious.
PhD student at Columbia University - reconstructs the Corriere dell'Umbria -, he had arrived at the New York university for 24 hours.
He is hospitalized in stable conditions.
His father, Corrado Malaspina, was a radiologist, now retired, at the Perugia hospital.
"I heard him on the phone and talked to him - he explained -, he's fine, thank God. He is slightly injured in the abdomen. He was there alone one day, to do a research in the American university and now he is hospitalized. We are now in contact with the Consulate - his father concluded with Corriere dell'Umbria - which updates us continuously ".
