While the trial of Bagui Traoré, brother of Adama, is due to begin on Monday, the city of Pontoise expects the courthouse to welcome an unusual crowd.
The municipality therefore preferred to take the lead by drawing up a traffic plan and entrusting certain missions to the municipal police.
For three weeks in fact, Bagui, 29, suspected with three other defendants of attempted murder on the police during the riots that followed the death of Adama Traoré in Beaumont-sur-Oise in July 2016, will be tried before the Assize Court of Val-d'Oise.
As a reminder, this 26-year-old youngster died on July 16, 2016 after an arrest by the gendarmes.
The exact reasons for his death have still not been clarified.
But his name has now become a symbol for all those who fight against police violence.
The collective La Vérité pour Adama calls for a rally
The collective La Vérité pour Adama, which campaigns to shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy, denounces "judicial harassment" against Bagui Traoré and calls for a rally as soon as the trial opens on Monday at 2 pm.
In order to be able to accommodate all the public who wish to attend the proceedings of this extraordinary trial, the courtroom of the Assize Court must be enlarged by encroaching on the Salle des Pas Perdus.
A traffic plan and municipal police at the station
But outside, the crowd could be dense at times as well.
"The scale of this trial and its probable media coverage have led to the provision of a traffic plan in the city center and more particularly around the palace in order not to risk traffic jams", indicates the municipality of Pontoise.
The high schools and colleges of the city center have been warned and made aware so that they favor entrances allowing students to avoid the courthouse.
For example, college students from Chabanne, an establishment located right next to the court, are invited to walk around and access their establishment through the gymnasium, located at the back.
"It is a question of putting them in safety, of avoiding that they find themselves in a scramble or something like that", we are whispered within the college.
The city also plans "a presence of the municipal police at the station, the agents should welcome many people interested in the trial but also high school students coming to take their baccalaureate exams at the examination centers that are the high schools of the city center. . The issue according to the municipality is to "maintain a fluidity of flows as well as public tranquility".
