(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 30 - Variety will present its International Achievement Film Award to Alberto Barbera and the Venice Biennale in a ceremony to be held at the Mostradel Cinema in Venice next month.
It is the first time that Variety has awarded an organization with this laurel.
In selecting Barbera for the award, Steven Gaydos diVariety said: "The Venice Film Festival has always carried forward excellence in international cinema. The last decade under the leadership of Alberto Barbera has continued this tradition, but has also added the new dimension of Hollywood glamor, or rather the relevance of a premicinema season and a creative vitality that make these years of his tenure one of the most exciting periods in the festival's illustrative history ". And Gaydos concludes: "We have not honored a festival director or film festival before now, but it is entirely legitimate that Alberto Barbera and la Biennale are the first to have this recognition".
