Suddenly very close: After Mert Sahin's equalizer in the 49th minute, the Hallbergmoosers were only missing one more goal and one from Wasserburg to stay up.

But nothing came of it.

The VfB Hallbergmoos footballers lost to Donaustauf 2-1.

Not so wild, because the Schützenhilfe didn't come anyway.

Now the relegation continues.

Hallbergmoos

– In the meantime, things crackled and simmered a bit in the Hallbergmoos cauldron, but the fans have to come back.

Bayern league club VfB Hallbergmoos lost 1:2 (0:1) against SV Donaustauf, who can now play the relegation to the regional league, with a late goal.

The hosts continue on Wednesday evening - first away - in the relegation relegation.

The opponent is SV Fortuna Regensburg at 6:30 p.m.

In the end, the frustration among the VfB footballers was limited because there was no support from Wasserburg.

The local TSV separated 0-0 from Türkspor Augsburg, which fixed the direct relegation in Wasserburg and the relegation in Hallbergmoos.

VfB could only have overtaken Augsburg if they had their own three and a victory in Wasserburg.

VfB legend becomes unlucky

The Hallbergmooser wanted to submit and had the first offensive scenes.

But while the substitutes diligently followed the live ticker from Wasserburg, the task in their own stadium didn't get any easier: A corner kick jumped unluckily to Dennis Hammerl's knee and from there into the goal.

What bad luck for the VfB legend, who was allowed to play in this game from the start and ended her career after the season.

Also unfortunate in the first half was the injury of Kaan Aygün, who crashed into his own bank during a rescue attempt and had to leave with a suspected bruised kneecap.

The last day of the game caught fire shortly after the restart when everything went a little too fast for the guests: David Küttner played a sweet pass to Mert Sahin – and he lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper who rushed out into the net (49').

The result meant that everything would look completely different again if VfB netted again and Wasserburg also scored.

However, the reality was different, because Donaustauf was threatened with a sporting catastrophe.

For the relegation, the guests had to win and pushed accordingly.

Goalkeeper Martin Dinkel saved the 1-1 with a handful of strong saves and showed that he can be the future of VfB after Ferdinand Kozel's retirement.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The hope of Wasserburger Schützenhilfe also dropped because TSV 1865 Dachau led 2-0 against Schwabmünchen.

This meant that even a win would not be enough for Wasserburg to avoid relegation.

From the 80th minute, VfB coach Matthias Strohmaier had his cell phone in his hand to go on the offensive when a goal was scored in Wasserburg.

Offside prevents a penalty

In fact, however, the guests from Donaustauf made the goal in the 87th minute and celebrated it like promotion to the regional league.

The lead was okay, although Hallbergmoos was an equal opponent.

In injury time, the relegation was fixed - but the Donaustaufer had to survive a shock moment in the 95th minute: After a shot was blocked, Hammerl was hit with a kung fu kick.

Only an offside position by the future football retiree prevented a penalty that could have burst the promotion relegation from Donaustauf against Greuther Fürth II like a soap bubble.

The visitors could not have complained if there had been a draw.

But even so, VfB coach Matthias Strohmaier took with him that the Bayernliga had been shaken up in the past few weeks: "It's crazy that we have to play relegation as fourth in the second half of the table.

And Donaustauf must be very happy after this game that they can play relegation.
